Fast Turn and Offset Quality 4-color press

The Xerox 242 is a sheet-fed CMYK direct-digital-offset printing press. The 242 prints at 812 dpi and 144 lpi. By printing from a Macintosh or Windows file, the Xerox 242 eliminates the need for film and printing plates. Trapping is also virtually eliminated due to the 242's precise registration capabilities.


As in conventional offset printing, ink is transferred from a blanket to the paper. However, unlike conventional presses, the Xerox 242 leaves no residual ink on the blanket. Since the ink is applied to the paper in a solid state, immediate trimming and finishing is possible. This enables the Xerox 242 to produce quality rivaling conventional offset printing in hours rather than days.

Proofs & Turn Around

After a file has been pre-flighted and RIPed, a single print per page can be output for approval. If the file is approved without changes, it will then be run. If changes are made, and another press proof is required, the proof will be generated at a $15 charge. File alterations can be made by Reed Photo-Imaging billed at our hourly rates.

Normal turn around time is 48 hours after proof approval based on press ready digital files, paper availability and quantity. Add another day for standard bindery. The 242's SWOP calibrated proofs make and economical alternative to more expensive proofing types.

Variable Data

This option allows you to customize and personalize each piece to each client, or market group for a professional look and effective marketing. Not just some blurry high-speed inkjet, or worse, a stick-on label.
